10 reviews for Men’s Navigator Fleece Button Up Shirt

I went by the positive reviews, but I should have paid attention to the ones stating this shirt is too large. I don’t mean a little too large–I ordered my usual size, but the sleeves fall six inches below the ends of my fingertips, the shoulder seams droop way down, and the length is excessive. I hope this was just one of a few items that were mislabeled by the manufacturer, but given several other reviews that mention the size issue, it might be a more extensive problem. It’s a shame because for the price, the shirt is nice, heavy weight fleece, and it appears to be well made–it’s just that they made so darn much extra.

As a good ol’ Canadian boy, 90% of my wardrobe is plaid. Doesn’t matter if its underwear, sleepwear, t-shirts, hoodies, you name it, and it has a checkerboard pattern. However, Winter Is Coming, and I decided it was time I retire my old work flannel and get a new one. For the price of $44.99, I couldn’t say no. So here I am, writing this review. Generally, I am a 5’8″ dude, about 175lbs. I bought a large, and needless to say, I should’ve gotten a medium. It’s a bit big, but the material softer than the penalties I take when I play hockey. Oh well, I’ll just wear a plaid hoodie underneath and flex how much of a Canadian I am.

They run large but very comfortable. We ordered another color too.

This could be a great shirt for the right body, but for me, can only rate a 3 star due to fit. I am 6′, 188 lbs., with a 43-44 chest, 33-34 waist, 35″ sleeve length, and normally wear a 44R or sometimes a 44L jacket. This shirt is too large through the chest and waist. More surprisingly, the shirt is actually slightly too large across the shoulders for me, something that almost never happens to me in the current normal sizing for a size L. I would return this shirt for a size M except for the fact that the sleeves would be too short. The sleeve length only fits now because the shoulders are 1″ beyond the bone at the tip of my shoulders. If I raise the shoulder seam up to my actual shoulder, the sleeves are at least one inch too short for a size L, so according to the company’s size guide, a medium would most likely have sleeves two inches too short for me. I would need a medium long, which Legendary Whitetails does not make. I find the quality of the shirt to be quite satisfactory. The stitching, felded seams and stitch count are all good, and, as should be expected the buttons are cross stitched. This shirt fits me like a shirt jacket, as I put on a medium/heavy weight L/S fleece shirt underneath it and it still fits large through the chest and body. I will probably keep it because I like the color and the fabric, but it is huge through the body. If anyone is reading these reviews from Legendary Whitetails, please make size medium longs in all your shirts and you will greatly increase your business as nearly a quarter of the customers comment on the sizing to be too large.

I absolutely love this shirt! It’s so soft and warm. You can tell the materials used are high quality and not some cheap substandard junk. The fit is perfect for me, I’m a big guy at 5’ 10” and 245lbs and the XXL is just right. Length of sleeves and from shoulders to waist is perfect. Usually, us “fluffy” people struggle to find shirts that fit well. They are either way too long, or the size is way off. I loved this so much, I bought another one a week later- a tan plaid one.

I bought this because a) I’m near Seattle and flannel’s kind of a requirement for citizenship in this area, and b) I wanted something big and warm that I could wear in this wettish climate that would keep me from feeling like I’d constantly been locked inside a very damp fridge.

This did the trick. I got about three sizes larger than I usually wear, intending to wear it pretty much as a jacket for camping, and honestly…I wear it all the time now. It’s kind of my go-to when it’s chilly. I had to roll up the sleeves quite a bit, and luckily, both the sleeve cuffs and the collar are reinforced with some kind of corduroy(?) and have withstood my abuse without flinching. Even after mostly-daily wear, it’s not pilling excessively or showing much by way of wear. The pockets are sizeable and the left one even has a separate segment for a pencil. (I appreciate these things, as an artist.)

It washes well, dries in the regular drier, and keeps the relentless Washington mist from soaking me too much when I’m outside. And it’s light enough, weight-wise, that I’m not going to have any problem lugging it with me into the wilderness for adventures.

Definitely recommended. I’m fighting the urge to buy ALL the colors now, myself. 🙂

I bought this flannel shirt assuming it was cotton, but it’s fleece… which came in useful for a recent trip to Alaska. With this shirt I didn’t even use the coat I packed.

I’ve only washed it once and it didn’t seem to shrink or pill. Long term, I’m not sure how it’ll hold up, but I plan on finding out.

The fit seems to be accurate, though it has a boxy cut, so those of us who prefer beer over fitness will appreciate that.

After I bought this, I felt the urge to go outside, cut down 17 trees, fight a grizzly, and make love to four women at once. And, its super soft, unlike the man you become after dawning such awesome flannel.

Last Year I purchased a Winter Jacket ( reversible type) made by Legendary Whitetails, I was very impressed by the high quality and price, I ordered a few of their men’s flannel shirts, this was one of them, I normally buy Carhartt, I live WAY out in the rough country of extreme N.E.Wyoming in the Black Hills. Here on the family ranch we get mail 3 x’s a week , 85+ miles from the nearest town that has a “Big Box” store or a Hardware store- I depend on QUALITY for survival, My 80 year young mom is the only other person for miles (she has been sewing custom clothing for all in my family since I was a tot, I’m 59 now) Mom was very pleased with the High Quality of all the items that I have purchased by Legendary Whitetails, I still buy Carhartt when I need an “Arctic extreme Parka and bib overalls” but more and more these good folks at Legendary Whitetails get my business- High Quality materials, Top Quality workmanship and good pricing are what I NEED- I’m disabled w/ severe RA and must “pinch my pennies”- as always said by my Grandpa “You get what you pay for” that still holds true- if a company (like Amazon) does good business (as does Legendary Whitetails) they keep good business- Thanks to everyone who takes the time to review the items that I and others who shop on Amazon buy, so we may stay informed – also the fit is perfect too
